Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chapa Coco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Keats! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coco misses with a takedown attempt and Keats counters by moving into the clinch. Keats is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Coco can't fight it off and eventually Keats manages to take the fight to the floor. Coco looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Keats decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Coco, up you get! Keats shoots in and bounces Coco off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Keats is pushing down on Coco's leg trying to pass to half guard. Coco is fighting to maintain full guard but Keats has managed to sneak the leg through. Coco punching from the bottom.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Coco slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Keats decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

It looks like Chapa Coco has been cut. Excellent takedown into side control there by Keats. Keats working the ground and pound. Keats looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Coco is avoiding damage well.
Coco is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Keats controlling the pace. Coco misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Keats has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Keats stalling. Keats wants to pass to mount but Coco is defending the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ben Keats hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Keats gets a clinch. Coco wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Keats cracks Coco with a nice body shot. Coco has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Keats is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Keats breaks the clinch.
Coco has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Keats finds it's way round the side to connect with Coco's head. Coco doesn't succeed with the takedown and Keats counters by moving into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chapa Coco. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coco is looking for a takedown. Keats effectively controlling the action here. Keats jumps guard and drags Coco to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Keats kicks Coco off and gets to his feet. Coco gets tackled into the cage by Keats. Keats maintains the clinch. Keats has hold of one of Coco's legs. Coco is fighting the takedown attempt but Keats gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Coco tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Keats controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ben Keats dominated that round. The cut man is working on Chapa Coco's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Keats throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Coco shoots in and drives through. Keats sprawls well. Keats gets a double leg takedown into Coco's guard. Coco thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Keats content to stall in guard here. Ben Keats has got the better of the ground game so far. Keats passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Coco tries to get to full guard but Keats has control of the leg. Coco punching from the bottom.

Coco keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Keats looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Keats slows the pace down in half guard. Keats missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Coco is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Keats not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Keats seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Keats working over Coco with some ground and pound. Coco looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Keats is taking a breather. Coco says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Keats looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Coco! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coco throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Coco tries to bench press Keats off him but Keats keeps the position. Coco struggling a bit here. Keats remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Ben Keats showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Chapa Coco's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Keats cracks Coco with a good jab. Keats throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Coco was covering up waiting for the punch and Keats finishes the takedown easily into guard. Keats is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Keats stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coco swivels though and keeps the full guard. Coco tries to strike from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Keats passes easily into side control. Nice work. Keats takes a little break here. Coco wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Keats stands up. Keats shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Coco as he avoids it easily. Coco gets caught napping as Keats dives in and scores a takedown. Coco manages to retain guard.

Coco is bucking up trying to escape but Keats cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Keats content just to control the position here. Coco throwing hammer fists to the chest of Keats. What's that going to do exactly? BOOM! Keats connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Keats has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coco is arching his back trying to strike from the bottom but Keats turns him over and now has his back. Keats is persistently looking for the submission but Coco is defending it well.

Coco is working hard here to advance position. Keats biding his time, controlling Coco. Coco rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Coco is looking to control Keats's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Coco avoid being mounted? Keats decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Keats feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Keats stands up from Coco's guard - Keats perhaps looking for a knockout. Keats fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Coco. Keats closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Keats lands in his opponent's guard. Coco looking for a sweep. Not yet Coco, not yet. Chapa Coco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ben Keats is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Keats stands up from Coco's guard - Keats perhaps looking for a knockout. No joy there for Coco, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that's the end of the fight! Ben Keats comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Keats has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
