Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shannon Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Soares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Soares! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soares shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Morgan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Morgan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Soares wants to stand but Morgan has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Soares decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Soares closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Morgan's guard. Morgan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Soares can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Soares should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soares closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morgan did well to prevent Soares getting side control. Soares escapes and gets back to his feet. Soares shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Soares was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Soares stands up. Soares clinches up against the cage. Morgan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Soares drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Morgan is trying to control Soares's posture but Soares avoids it. Morgan wants to get back to his feet but Soares drags him back down. Morgan is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morgan can't do much from the bottom here. Morgan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Soares is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Soares fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Soares blocks a body shot from Morgan. Soares putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Morgan in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Soares lands a body punch. Soares gets control of Morgan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Soares will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Soares trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Morgan stopping the sweep attempt from Soares.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Soares manages to escape and get back to his feet.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Soares decides to stand and escape the position. Soares feints and as Morgan raises his hands in defense, Soares changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Morgan's half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Soares stands up and beckons Morgan to join him on the feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Soares feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Morgan wants to clinch. Soares throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morgan was covering up waiting for the punch and Soares finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Soares shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Morgan napping and manages to drive through into side control! Morgan tries to bench press Soares off him but Soares keeps the position. Morgan can't do much from the bottom here. Soares has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Morgan! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Soares can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morgan is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soares throwing strikes but missing. Morgan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Soares doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Soares manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Morgan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Soares defends it easily. Morgan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Soares gets to his feet - Morgan follows without any prompting. Soares gets the takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Soares creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Morgan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Soares decides to take the fight back to the feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Morgan enables Soares to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Morgan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. And that's the end of the fight! Victor Soares comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Soares has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
