PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Solid Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoko Inamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Snake might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Im a Ninja. Yoko Inamoto is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Solid Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Yoko Inamoto!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snake tries a head kick but it misses.
Snake slaps away a takedown attempt from Inamoto, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Inamoto takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Inamoto shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Snake defends it nicely.
Inamoto shoots and misses

and Snake counters with a left and a right that hurts Inamoto! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Snake jumps into full mount!
Solid Snake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoko Inamoto.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Inamoto tries to lock up and control but Snake gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Snake throws some wild stikes that Inamoto manages to avoid easily.
Snake tries to control but Inamoto wriggling away.
Snake avoids the attempt from Inamoto to control.

Inamoto is in all sorts of trouble here.
Snake takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Inamoto tries to hold on but Snake pushes him away.
Inamoto regains half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snake content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Solid Snake just wasn't active enough.
Snake displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Snake slaps away a takedown attempt from Inamoto, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Inamoto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Inamoto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Snake is not content to let Inamoto control the position.
Inamoto works to advance to full mount. Snake defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Snake tries to hold on but Inamoto postures up.
Inamoto wants to control the pace but Snake is squirming around nicely.
Snake sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Inamoto stalling away here and it's allowed Snake to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Inamoto's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Yoko Inamoto was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Inamoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Snake but Snake pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Inamoto fails to land the takedown.

Snake bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Snake is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snake working away.
Inamoto tries to buck Snake off but Snake is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Inamoto's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Snake wants to control but Inamoto is keeping him busy.
Inamoto struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Solid Snake dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Inamoto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Snake is fending him off so far but Inamoto persists. Nope, Snake circles away and we're back to standing.
Inamoto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Snake sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Inamoto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Solid Snake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoko Inamoto.

Inamoto tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Snake defends well and Inamoto ends up having to push Snake into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Snake manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Snake lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Inamoto.

Inamoto fails to pull guard.
Snake lands a nice shot to the body.
Inamoto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Snake walks away with a smile on his face. Inamoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Inamoto displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Snake throws out the jab.
Inamoto has a takedown stuffed.

Inamoto shoots in but Snake avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Solid Snake is winning the standup battle so far.
Snake looks to land a combination but Inamoto avoids it well.
Inamoto fails with the takedown.

Inamoto tries to keep at a distance but Snake has taken the fight into the clinch.
Snake tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snake with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Inamoto is trying to pull guard but Snake turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Inamoto tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Snake breaks the clinch.

Snake drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Inamoto is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Snake wants to get up but he can't break Inamoto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Solid Snake dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Inamoto shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Snake sprawls well. Snake wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Inamoto gets slowly back to his feet.
Snake slaps away a takedown attempt from Inamoto, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Yoko Inamoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Solid Snake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoko Inamoto.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Inamoto shoots in looking for a takedown. Snake tries to sprawl out of it but Inamoto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Snake manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Snake lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Inamoto circles away quickly and effectively.

Inamoto scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Snake tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Inamoto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Inamoto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Snake wants to control but Inamoto postures up.
Inamoto just content to control the position.
Inamoto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Snake keeps working.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Yoko Inamoto hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Inamoto darts in looking for a takedown but Snake gets double underhooks and turns Inamoto into the cage.
Inamoto prevents a body shot from Snake.

Snake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Inamoto has a takedown stuffed.
Horrible takedown by Inamoto or perhaps it was just good defense by Snake which made him look bad.
Inamoto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Snake delivers a nice body kick.
Snake defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Inamoto.
Snake stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Snake wants it to stay on the feet.
Yoko Inamoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Solid Snake is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Inamoto shoots in for a takedown but Snake shows good takedown defense.

Yoko Inamoto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Snake has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Solid Snake was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
