Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franco Colombo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franco Colombo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 35 - 0, fighting out of New York, Franco Colombo!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colombo tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
A shot to the liver by Silva. Beautiful body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Colombo misses the target.
Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Colombo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Colombo tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Colombo throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Silva tumbling to the canvas!
Silva is rocked!
It looks like Wanderlei Silva has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Colombo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Oh Silva is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Colombo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silva is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Colombo has just dragged him back down to the mat.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Silva sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Well, if Colombo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Silva moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Silva seems keen to control Colombo's posture.

Silva is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Colombo presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Silva closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Colombo is defending well.
Colombo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Colombo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Colombo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Colombo keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wanderlei Silva.
Silva drives through and clinches with Colombo against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Colombo gets underhooks to prevent Silva's takedown attempt.
Silva is trying to trip Colombo. He has hold of a leg but Colombo is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Silva persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Wanderlei Silva will probably get the nod.

Franco Colombo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Colombo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silva looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Colombo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.
Colombo drops Silva with a big left hand and mounts him. Silva is in big trouble!

Silva is squirming around, avoiding Colombo's attempts to control the action.

Silva looks to land a combination but Colombo avoids it well.
Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Silva tries to break free but Colombo pushes him back against the cage.
Colombo prevents a takedown attempt there.
Colombo has Silva pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Silva manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Colombo tries to pull guard but Silva holds him up against the cage and eventually Colombo drops back down to his feet.
Wanderlei Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franco Colombo.

Silva scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Colombo is looking for a takedown.

Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Colombo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Colombo throws out a loose jab but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.
The fighters circle, before Colombo throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Silva's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Colombo lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
