The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popov doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Hardon to counter with a crisp jab.
Popov misses with a takedown
and Hardon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hardon throws a big shot that misses.
Popov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hardon counters with a low kick, right behind Popov 's knee.

Popov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hardon is holding Popov down, trying to stall.

Hardon defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
Popov controls Hardon momentarily but Hardon frees himself.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hardon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Popov avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hardon.
Hardon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Popov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hardon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hardon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Popov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Popov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hardon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hardon's back!
Popov gets his hands free as Hardon looks to control.

Hardon is trying to shake Popov off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Popov won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hardon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Popov shoots and misses
and Hardon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Popov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hardon tries to avoid it but Popov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hardon to the ground. Hardon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Popov is breathing heavily.
Popov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hardon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hardon clinches with his opponent.
Hardon doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hardon lands a right hand.
Popov is pressed up against the cage. Hardon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Popov down to the mat. Popov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Popov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hardon defends well and Popov ends up having to push Hardon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A body shot lands from Hardon.

Hardon is trying to trip Popov. He has hold of a leg but Popov is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hardon persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Popov has momentary wrist control but Hardon slips an elbow through the middle.
Hardon throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Medium Hardon dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Popov is rocked!

and Hardon counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Hardon drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Popov right on the button. Popov goes down! Hardon follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Hardon gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Medium Hardon!
