Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Rocky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kevin Rocky has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Patterson.

Rocky moves into range and clinches up with Patterson.
Rocky is trying to force a seperation but Patterson has the dominant position.
Patterson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rocky's efforts to push away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Patterson wanted to stand there but Rocky had control of the position.

Patterson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rocky defends well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rocky lands a couple of elbows.
Rocky throws a strike but Patterson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Patterson tries to keep at a distance but Rocky has taken the fight into the clinch.

Rocky throws a right hand that Patterson ducks under and follows up with a left that Patterson also avoids with ease.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rocky darts in and clinches Patterson up against the cage.
Rocky manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kevin Rocky will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Rocky throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Patterson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rocky, right into the meat.

Patterson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rocky tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Patterson is in Rocky's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rocky is working an open guard so Patterson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Patterson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rocky doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Patterson.

Rocky is pressing down on Patterson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Patterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rocky is proving hard to escape from.
Ryan Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rocky is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rocky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rocky wants to stand up but Patterson is controlling the position.
Rocky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rocky seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Patterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rocky is nestled in close to Patterson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rocky is taking a breather. Patterson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Patterson has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Rocky escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Rocky!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
