Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hiro Nohara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiro Nohara could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Martin Hewitt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiro Nohara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Martin Hewitt! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Hewitt. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Hewitt trying to control the action but Nohara is working from the bottom. Nohara being controlled for a moment. Nohara is trying to improve his position. Nohara wants to control but Hewitt postures up. Nohara is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hewitt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hewitt goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Nohara has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hewitt but great work by Nohara. Hewitt tries to get back to half guard but can't. Nohara remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Nohara is putting a hurting on Hewitt here, landing some big shots from side control. Hewitt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nohara wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Nohara throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hewitt struggling a bit here. Nohara in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

You can see the frustration on Hewitt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nohara is looking to take a break and control but Hewitt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nohara is putting a hurting on Hewitt here, landing some big shots from side control. Nohara in side control lands a decent elbow. Nohara misses with an attempted head punch from side control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Nohara lands some shots froms side control. Hewitt is trying to improve his position. Hewitt is letting Nohara control him for a moment.

Nohara landing some decent shots from guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hewitt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nohara doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nohara manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hiro Nohara will probably get the nod. That's time! Nohara's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hewitt misses with a takedown attempt - Nohara sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nohara throws the kick towards the body but Hewitt avoids it. Nohara cracks Hewitt with an open hand slap. Hiro Nohara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hewitt dives in and scores a takedown into Nohara's guard. Hewitt postures up.
Hewitt pushes down on Nohara's leg and manages to get into half guard. Nohara is staying active underneath Hewitt, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hewitt is looking for a kimura here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nohara tried to score with a low kick but Hewitt checks it. Nohara gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Nohara wants to sweep here but Hewitt controlling him for the moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Martin Hewitt hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Hewitt on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Hewitt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nohara but Nohara pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hewitt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hiro Nohara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Hewitt. Nohara looks for the body kick but Hewitt saw that one coming.

Nohara is looking to clinch. Hewitt tries to clinch up. Nohara throws a half hearted mid kick. Hewitt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Nohara is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nohara is trying to get back to full guard. Hewitt is trying to work for a kimura but Nohara is defending well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hiro Nohara will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Nohara motions for Hewitt to come forward. Nohara throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Nohara lands a jab to Hewitt's midsection. Nohara connects with a leg kick. Hewitt looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Hewitt tries to keep at a distance but Nohara has taken the fight into the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hewitt.

Nohara throws a hook to the side of Hewitt's head but Hewitt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hewitt tries for a takedown but Nohara sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Nohara feints and then cracks Hewitt's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hewitt down. Nohara uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hewitt. Nohara throws a leg kick but Hewitt sees it coming and moves out of range. Nohara throws a body punch but Hewitt moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hewitt shoots in and bounces Nohara off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Nohara trying to control the position.

He's now in Nohara's guard. Nice move by Hewitt! Hewitt stopping the sweep attempt from Nohara. Hewitt wants to pass the guard but Nohara is keeping the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nohara working a defensive guard here.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hiro Nohara. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nohara, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
