Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Akio Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takada kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Metallica - All Nightmare Long. Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Criminal Minded kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Julio Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Takada definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Takada avoids the head kick by Smith.
Takada throws a leg kick that is checked
and Smith counters with a nice body shot.
Smith attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Julio Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Some bone on bone action there as Smith checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
