Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Harold Short! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Leggy Leg! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leg misses with a double jab.
Short drives through with a takedown into Leg's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Leg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Short can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leg can do anything to dispel that myth. Short wants to control from the top but Leg keeps moving. Leg working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Short. Short has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Short throws an elbow that misses. Leg uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Short's guard. Nice move by Leg! Short keeping moving, preventing Leg from controlling successfully. Leg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Leg looks winded! Leg postures up in Short's guard and throws a big left but Short blocks it. Leg is in close to Short's body, working some short punches and elbows. Short might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leg stands and steps away. Short gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Short closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. An elbow from Short crashes against the mat.
Short remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Leg is not content to let Short control the position. Short working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Short is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Leg is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Short working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Short looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Short thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Leg can't do much from the bottom here. Leg throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Leg is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Short stands up and we're back to a striking position. Leg is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Short's half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leg blocks the strikes from Short.
Leg thows a huge punch but Short dodges it nicely.
Leg seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Leg is working for a kimura but Short is defending it quite comfortably.
Short is looking to control Leg's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Short avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Short avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leg. Short is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Leg wants to control but Short is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Short is trying to control but can't.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
We're going to have a standup here because Harold Short wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Leg shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Harold Short will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Can Leg avoid being mounted? Leg looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Short lands with a punch from half guard. Short has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Leg defend it? Short steps over the head and cranks it - Leg is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Short!
