0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paul Savas! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savas misses with a double jab
and Armstrong counters with a straight right hand. Savas closes the distance and pushes Armstrong back into the cage. Armstrong blocks an elbow strike. Savas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Savas moves into the clinch. Savas has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Armstrong regains guard immediately. Armstrong working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Savas wants to control from the top but Armstrong keeps moving. Savas throws a big elbow that misses. Armstrong has his foot on Savas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Savas works his way back into a safe position though. Savas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Savas stands up and waves to Armstrong to follow him. Savas closes the distance and pushes Armstrong back into the cage. Savas gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Armstrong takes an elbow to the temple. Armstrong escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Savas moves into range and clinches up with Armstrong.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice right hand lands inside from Savas. Nice elbow from Savas. Savas lands an elbow inside.
Russell Armstrong's cut is getting worse. Savas has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Armstrong - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Savas, and another! Armstrong is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
