PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sasha Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sasha Grey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan closes the distance and clinches up with Grey, looking for a takedown. Jordan pushes Grey against the cage but Grey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jordan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Grey. That one must have hurt.
No luck for Jordan with that takedown attempt.
Jordan fails with a takedown attempt.
Sasha Grey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Jordan.

Grey gets caught flat footed, as Jordan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Grey is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Grey wants to sweep but no luck.
Jordan passes Grey's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grey controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Grey is trying to stand up here but Jordan is controlling him well.
Grey trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Grey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jordan is trying to work for a kimura but Grey is defending well.
Grey moves into full guard.

Jordan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Grey is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Grey has escaped and now he's on top!

Grey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Grey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jordan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Grey trying to control the position from guard on top but Jordan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Grey postures up in Jordan's guard and throws a big left but Jordan blocks it.
Grey has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jordan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Grey with a flurry of punches that miss.
Grey scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Grey stopping the sweep attempt from Jordan.

Jordan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Grey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Grey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Grey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jordan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grey has managed to get both his arms back between Jordan's legs - danger averted.
Grey wants to control from the top but Jordan keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Grey is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jordan has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Grey is looking to defend but Jordan has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Grey! Jordan pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Grey taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jeff Jordan!
Jeff Jordan decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
