Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chet Manley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Samuel Berzins! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Manley with that takedown attempt. Berzins gets in close and instigates a clinch. Berzins lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Manley backwards. Good body shot from Berzins.
Berzins lands with a short shot to the head. Manley misses with a punch on the inside.
Manley tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Berzins smiles and moves away.
Berzins looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Berzins throws a hook but Manley avoids it easily. Manley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Berzins's waist but Berzins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Manley off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chet Manley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Good standup being displayed there by Berzins as he connects with a hook.
It looks like Chet Manley has been cut. Manley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Berzins but Berzins pushes him off and we're back to square one. This has been an exciting period of action! Berzins cracks Manley with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice uppercut there from Berzins. Manley shoots in looking for a takedown but Berzins manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Manley's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Manley tries to score a power double leg takedown but Berzins sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Manley somewhat. Berzins throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Berzins lands a nice looking body shot.
Berzins connects with a right hand. Manley shakes it off. Samuel Berzins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. OH! Manley has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Berzins smells blood and charges in for the finish! Berzins unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Manley sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
