Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ahmed Babilon Mamed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Avery McCurnin!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCurnin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McCurnin showed some decent athleticism there.
Mamed keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Mamed manages to get to full guard.
Mamed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mamed is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mamed moves into full mount! McCurnin won't be happy about that!

Mamed will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McCurnin tries to hold on but Mamed postures up.
Mamed lands a big shot there that rocks McCurnin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

We've been hearing that Mamed has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mamed seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McCurnin for as long as he can get away with.

Mamed cracks McCurnin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mamed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McCurnin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mamed. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McCurnin tries to improve his position but Mamed has taken his back! Mamed has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will McCurnin tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Mamed pushes McCurnin away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
