PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mr Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Wolfe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Black's entrance music is yes. A fine choice. Wolfe has chosen Immortal Technique- Internally Bleeding as his entrance music. Jesse Wolfe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jesse Wolfe!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Black.
Black seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Wolfe fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Black staying out of range there.
A chopping leg kick lands by Black.
Black swings widly with a right hand
and Wolfe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Black tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wolfe was well out of range. Poor timing from Black.
Black throws a jab when Wolfe was well out of range.
Black misses with an uppercut. Wolfe saw that one coming.
Black motions for Wolfe to come forward. Black throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and Black counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Wolfe with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Black to score with a decent uppercut.
Wolfe throws a looping overhand right but Black ducks down to avoid it.

Black wants to slow Wolfe down by chopping away at his legs.
Black misses with a series of wild punches.
Wolfe stuffs the takedown attempt from Black. Black gets slowly back to his feet.

Black shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wolfe as he jumps to the side.
Black cracks Wolfe with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The fighters circling - Black throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Wolfe shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Black moves out of range as Wolfe strikes.
Black bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wolfe's head.

A head kick misses from Black.
Wolfe tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Black is able to avoid easily.
Black avoids the body shot from Wolfe.

Wolfe stuns Black with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Wolfe throws out a powerful jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Some bone on bone action there as Black checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Black bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wolfe's head backwards.

Wolfe fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Black is out of range.
A shot to the body from Black misses
and Wolfe counters with a right hand to the body.
Black clobbers Wolfe with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Black is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Wolfe takes a swing at Black's ribcage but misses.

Black lands a nice hook to Wolfe's body. Wolfe takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Wolfe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Black manages to avoid it.
Wolfe throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Wolfe stuffs the takedown attempt from Black. Black gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Black. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Black uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wolfe.

Wolfe lands a nice hook to Black's body. Black takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Wolfe scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Wolfe closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Black is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

and Black counters with a stiff right hand.

Mr Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Black counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Black.
Black tries to work over Wolfe's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wolfe misses with a punch on the inside.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wolfe is trying to maintain a safe position but Black gets an underhook and turns Wolfe into the cage.

That was a close round but I would say that Mr Black will probably get the nod.

and Black counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wolfe's knee momentarily.

Crunch! Black slams his shin into Wolfe's torso.
Wolfe takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

and Black connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wolfe swings for the body but Black moves out of range.

Nice defenses there by Wolfe.
No joy there for Wolfe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Black connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

and Wolfe counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Wolfe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Black.

Black stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Black wants it to stay on the feet.
Wolfe looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Black looks to score with a jab to the body but Wolfe is just out of range.

Black takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Wolfe shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Black is trying to defend but Wolfe finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
