Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Caleb Conner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Frankie! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frankie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Conner fails with a takedown attempt. Conner slips a jab and a cross from Frankie.
Frankie lands a nice hook to Conner's body. Conner takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Conner shoots in but Frankie avoids the takedown attempt easily. Frankie goes for a double leg but Conner avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Conner continues to drive forward. Conner is trying to break the clinch but Frankie has him pressed against the cage. Frankie wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Conner tries to pull guard but Frankie won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caleb Conner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Conner misses with a punch on the inside.
Frankie has had enough of the clinch but Conner keeps him there for the moment. Frankie is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Frankie is trying to push Conner away but Conner has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frankie is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Frankie misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Frankie is trying to break free. Frankie tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Frankie is trying to break the clinch but Conner has him pressed against the cage. Conner wants to take the fight to the mat but Frankie manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Frankie wants to get back to striking at distance but Conner won't allow it.
Frankie is trying to push Conner away but Conner has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Frankie is trying to force a seperation but Conner has the dominant position. Conner keeps control of Frankie as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Frankie tries to break free but Conner pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Conner keeps control of Frankie as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Frankie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Frankie goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Conner is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Frankie moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Frankie!
