PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vlad Kersikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nalle Karhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kersikov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dappy - Good Intentions. Karhu has chosen Yö - Parrasvalot as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Vlad Kersikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nalle Karhu!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karhu checks a leg kick nicely.
Karhu lands a front kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kersikov, right into the meat.
Karhu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kersikov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Karhu gets tackled into the cage by Kersikov. Kersikov maintains the clinch.

Karhu has hold of one of Kersikov's legs. Kersikov is fighting the takedown attempt but Karhu gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Kersikov is trying to control Karhu's posture but Karhu avoids it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karhu wants to pass to mount but Kersikov is defending the position.

Karhu is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kersikov tries to buck Karhu off but Karhu is having none of it.
Kersikov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Kersikov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Karhu stands and throws Kersikov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Karhu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kersikov is looking to reverse the position.

Kersikov is looking for a sweep. Karhu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Karhu wants to pass to mount but Kersikov is defending the position.
Karhu thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kersikov wants to control but Karhu is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Karhu wants to free his trapped foot but Kersikov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Karhu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kersikov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kersikov walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Karhu checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Karhu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kersikov moves away.

Kersikov lands a nice leg kick that just misses Karhu's sensitive parts.
Karhu has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kersikov.
The fighters circling - Kersikov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kersikov does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Karhu throws a punch but it's blocked by Kersikov.

Kersikov is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Karhu is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Kersikov throws a leg kick which misses Karhu's front leg but catches the back leg as Karhu tries to avoid it.

Karhu has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Karhu there as he acknowledges the shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kersikov lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Karhu has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Karhu and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Karhu lands with a kick to the temple. Kersikov shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Karhu.
Karhu throws a series of strikes that have Kersikov backpedaling.

Karhu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kersikov lands a body shot.
Vlad Kersikov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kersikov misses with a looping left.
Kersikov misses with a looping right.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Karhu avoids a kick to the body.
Kersikov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Karhu.
Good leg kick by Kersikov there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Kersikov stuns Karhu with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Karhu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

It looks like Nalle Karhu has been cut.
Kersikov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

and Karhu counters with a thumping low kick.
Kersikov throws a big shot that misses.
Vlad Kersikov is winning the standup battle so far.
Kersikov tries to clinch but Karhu moves out of range.
Kersikov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Karhu.
Karhu's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
A combination from Kersikov does no damage.
Kersikov tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Karhu is able to avoid easily.
Kersikov scores with a sloppy right hand. Karhu should have avoided that one.

Kersikov tries to clinch there but Karhu circles away.
Kersikov throws a hook but Karhu avoids it easily.
Kersikov misses with a body kick.
Kersikov misses with a straight right.
Kersikov lands a nice shot that snaps Karhu's head back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Karhu's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kersikov connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Karhu scrambles back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
