Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mint Choco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Blind Eye Halo. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mint Choco!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choco misses with a body kick.

and Peterson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Peterson swings for the body but Choco moves out of range.

and Choco counters with a nice low kick that buckles Peterson 's knee momentarily.

Choco ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Choco throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Choco lands a nice leg kick that just misses Peterson 's sensitive parts.
Choco with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Peterson to score with a decent uppercut.

Peterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Choco makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Choco has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at CCF's Flying Circus. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Peterson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Choco defends it easily.
Choco sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Peterson 's guard.
Choco has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Choco is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Choco wants to pass the guard but Peterson is keeping the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Peterson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mint Choco seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Choco feints and then cracks Peterson 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peterson down.
Choco lands a nice leg kick that just misses Peterson 's sensitive parts.

The fighters circling - Peterson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Peterson throws a good cross that connects.

Choco fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Peterson .

Choco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Peterson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Choco looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Peterson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Choco turns into Peterson and is now in his guard.
Choco is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Choco lands a couple of elbows.
Peterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Peterson pushes Choco away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Choco gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Peterson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Choco lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Mint Choco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Well Choco has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
