PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Belingon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Belingon!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belingon scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Belingon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Frost paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Frost or perhaps it was just good defense by Belingon which made him look bad.
Frost lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Belingon circles away quickly and effectively.
Jeff Frost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Frost dives in and grabs Belingon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Belingon pushes down on Frost's head and hops out.
Frost is breathing heavily.

Belingon closes the distance and clinches.
Belingon is looking to take this one to the mat.
Frost fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Frost. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frost is pressed up against the cage. Belingon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Frost down to the mat. Frost avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A head kick misses from Frost.

Frost gets tackled into the cage by Belingon. Belingon maintains the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frost wants to get back to striking at distance but Belingon won't allow it.
Frost is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Belingon is looking for a takedown.
Frost misses with an elbow over the top.
Belingon jumps guard but Frost turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Frost can't break the clinch.

Frost manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Belingon pushing down on Frost's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Frost blocking the ground and pound attempt from Belingon.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Belingon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Frost keeps working.
Frost looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Belingon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Belingon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Frost defends it well.
Frost is looking to improve his position.
Belingon is taking a breather. Frost says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Frost has hold of Belingon's hands but Belingon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Belingon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Frost is looking to control Belingon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Frost avoid being mounted?
Belingon slows the pace down in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Belingon is trying to control. Frost wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Belingon connects with a nice short shot to Frost's temple.
Belingon is taking a breather. Frost says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Belingon winds up and cracks Frost with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Belingon keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Belingon slips a nice elbow through Frost's hands, connecting with Frost's forehead.

Belingon seems to be working for a kimura but Frost defends the submission attempt.
Belingon works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Belingon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Belingon with the ground and pound from mount.


Frost is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Belingon lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Oh Frost is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Belingon tries to control but Frost wriggling away.
Belingon controlling from the full mount.
Belingon postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Frost badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Belingon around the waist but Belingon pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Belingon is the winner by TKO! Belingon jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Belingon!
