And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Bzdunek!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kucharski.

Oooooh!!! Bzdunek has knocked Kucharski down with a huge combo! Bzdunek steps away and waves a wobbly Kucharski back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


It looks like Michal Kucharski has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kucharski shoots in and bounces Bzdunek off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kucharski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bzdunek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Kucharski's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Kucharski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bzdunek has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kucharski has managed to get both his arms back between Bzdunek's legs - danger averted.

Kucharski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bzdunek knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kucharski is looking to take a break and control but Bzdunek is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kucharski tries for a kimura but Bzdunek is defending well.
Bzdunek regains half guard, as Kucharski was trying to land strikes.

Kucharski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bzdunek is just riding it out for now. Kucharski eventually gives up the hold.

Kucharski is working for a kimura but Bzdunek is defending it quite comfortably.

Kucharski wants to work for an arm triangle but Bzdunek is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

BOOM! Kucharski connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kucharski lands a heavy elbow.
Bzdunek is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bzdunek is squirming around, avoiding Kucharski's attempts to control the action.

Kucharski goes for an armbar but Bzdunek turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Bzdunek.

Kucharski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kucharski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bzdunek gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kucharski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bzdunek won't allow Kucharski to sweep him here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bzdunek is looking to stand up but Kucharski won't let him.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bzdunek looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kucharski looks for a takedown but Bzdunek sprawls well.
Kucharski shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bzdunek defends it nicely.

Kucharski fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Kucharski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kucharski closes the distance and clinches up with Bzdunek, looking for a takedown. Kucharski pushes Bzdunek against the cage but Bzdunek circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bzdunek misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bzdunek pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kucharski back to the cage. Bzdunek follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Michal Kucharski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bzdunek lands with a nice body punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kucharski shoots in but no luck this time.

Kucharski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bzdunek as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bzdunek pushes Kucharski away with a front kick.
Michal Kucharski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bzdunek connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Kucharski tumbling to the canvas! Bzdunek pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Kucharski was done - good stoppage!
