Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mitchel Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henri Bourassa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bourassa has chosen Harlem Shake as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mitchel Franklin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henri Bourassa! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bourassa moves into range and clinches up with Franklin. Bourassa lands a body punch. Franklin manages to pull guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Franklin looking for a sweep. Not yet Franklin, not yet. Bourassa gets to his feet - Franklin follows without any prompting. Bourassa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Franklin quickly recovers to half guard. Franklin looking for submissions off his back. Franklin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Franklin. Bourassa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Franklin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bourassa trying to control but Franklin is working from the bottom. Franklin managing to control the position. Bourassa's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franklin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bourassa defends it easily. Franklin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bourassa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Franklin is keeping the position for now. Franklin is trying to keep Bourassa in close.
Bourassa trying to control but Franklin is working from the bottom. Bourassa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Franklin is looking for a sweep. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Franklin is breathing heavily. Bourassa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Franklin, who protects the arm well. Bourassa advances nicely into full mount. Bourassa landing strikes, looking to finish!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Bourassa prevents Franklin from getting the reversal. Bourassa tries to control but Franklin wriggling away. Franklin tries to hold on but Bourassa postures up. Franklin in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bourassa throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Franklin has his hands clasped together but Bourassa breaks the hold and Franklin is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Bourassa!
