23 - 24 - 1, fighting out of London, Matthew Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shaun Russell! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cannon misses with a hook to the body
and Russell connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cannon avoids the body shot from Russell.
Cannon ducks under a wild hook from Russell. Cannon on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Russell lands a nice shot to the body.

Cannon has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Rift Fighting Academy in the buildup to the fight. Cannon wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Cannon scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Russell throws a right hand that Cannon ducks under and follows up with a left that Cannon also avoids with ease. A shot to the liver by Cannon. Beautiful body shot. Russell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cannon manages to avoid it. Cannon is looking to wear down Russell with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Cannon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Russell scores with a jab. Cannon acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Russell throws a nice looking combination but Cannon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Russell misses with an uppercut
and Russell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Cannon lands an overhand right. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Cannon dominated that round. The cut man is working on Shaun Russell's cut. That's time! Cannon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Matthew Cannon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cannon dips to his left and cracks Russell with an uppercut! Cannon staying out of range there. Cannon throws a series of punches but Russell avoids them all with ease. Cannon throws a combination. Russell tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Cannon digs a good hook to Russell's body.
Cannon takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. This has been an exciting period of action! Russell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Matthew Cannon is winning the standup battle so far. Decent striking displayed by Russell there. Cannon with a nice cross. Russell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cannon.
Shaun Russell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cannon throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Russell's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Cannon dives in looking to finish as Russell flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Cannon's strikes! Cannon is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Russell's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Russell was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
