Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sid Cotton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brayden Schenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sid Cotton has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sid Cotton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brayden Schenn!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schenn but Schenn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Schenn looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cotton!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Schenn wants to control but Cotton is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Cotton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Cotton is looking for a sweep.
Cotton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Schenn decides to stand back up. Schenn steps back and let's Cotton get back to his feet.
Cotton gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Sid Cotton has been cut.
Cotton blocks a head kick by Schenn.
Schenn tries a head kick but it misses.
Schenn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cotton swivels and escapes.

Schenn clinches up with Cotton and pushes him back against the cage.

Schenn ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Schenn no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cotton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Schenn is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cotton is controlling him.
Schenn wants to improve his position but instead Cotton has moved into half guard.
Schenn gets full guard.
Schenn wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cotton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cotton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cotton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Schenn isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cotton stacks Schenn on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cotton!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schenn is trying to control Cotton's posture but Cotton avoids it.

Cotton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Schenn is trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Schenn struggling a bit here.
Schenn is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cotton prevents Schenn from escaping the position.
Schenn can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brayden Schenn dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sid Cotton's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cotton dives in and grabs Schenn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schenn pushes down on Cotton's head and hops out.
Cotton darts in looking for a takedown but Schenn gets double underhooks and turns Cotton into the cage.
Cotton looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Schenn manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Cotton preventing the sweep.
Schenn trying to control the position.
Schenn wants to stand and escape but Cotton is having none of it.
Schenn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cotton with a poor takedown

and Schenn counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Cotton!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sid Cotton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schenn is looking to take a break and control but Cotton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cotton prevents Schenn from moving into mount.
Cotton is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cotton is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Schenn is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Brayden Schenn has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cotton tries to hold on but Schenn postures up.

Schenn looking for a guillotine from mount but Cotton is having none of it.

Cotton is in all sorts of trouble here.
Schenn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Schenn looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Schenn avoids the attempt from Cotton to control.
Schenn trying to control but Cotton is having none of it.
Schenn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Schenn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cotton is looking to escape.

Cotton regains half guard.

Schenn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cotton sees it coming and defends easily.
Schenn is breathing heavily.
Cotton wants to improve his position but Schenn is controlling well.
Schenn wants to pass the guard but Cotton is defending well.
Cotton is not content to let Schenn control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Schenn is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Brayden Schenn.

Schenn closes the distance and clinches.
Cotton is trying to break the clinch but Schenn is controlling him.
Cotton fails to pull guard.
Schenn prevents a body shot from Cotton.
Cotton looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cotton is trying to pull guard but Schenn turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Schenn is looking to take this one to the mat.
Cotton tries to circle away but Schenn has him pinned against the cage.

Brayden Schenn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Schenn gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Schenn is trying to push Cotton away but Cotton has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Schenn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cotton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schenn's waist but Schenn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cotton off to one side.
Schenn stuffs the takedown.
Schenn fails with the takedown.

Schenn rushes Cotton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Schenn jumps into guard, dragging Cotton to the mat.
Cotton postures up.
Cotton sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schenn throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Cotton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schenn sprawls well initially but Cotton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Schenn wants to control but Cotton passes into side.
Schenn wants to get back to his feet but Cotton drags him back down.
Schenn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Schenn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schenn is looking to control Cotton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Schenn avoid being mounted?

Schenn has one foot on Cotton's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Cotton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Schenn counters with a good low kick that Cotton was not able to check.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sid Cotton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cotton is defended easily by Schenn.

Cotton stuffs the takedown.

Schenn manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cotton on his heels. He'll look to pass Cotton's guard now, I'm sure.

Schenn decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cotton, up you get!

Schenn misses with a kick to the body.

Schenn gets a clinch.
Cotton tries to circle away but Schenn has him pinned against the cage.
Cotton is trying to force a seperation but Schenn has the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cotton is looking to break free of the clinch but Schenn has double underhooks.
Schenn with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Schenn lands an uppercut.
Cotton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Schenn is trying to pull guard but Cotton turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Schenn manages to pull guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cotton is fighting to break Schenn's control of his arms but Schenn is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schenn is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brayden Schenn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Schenn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
