PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grant Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Hempsall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hempsall's choice of entrance music: Everyday-Shy FX & T Power. Jake Hempsall told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Hempsall!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hempsall throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

I was talking to Riley's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

and Riley counters with a straight right hand.
Hempsall on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Riley bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Riley lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


Hempsall is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hempsall feints a jab promting Riley to slip. Hempsall then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Riley slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Hempsall takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Riley drops Hempsall with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hempsall looks back up at him and smiles so Riley waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Hempsall is still on wobbly legs! Can Riley finish him?

Riley feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hempsall sprawling to the canvas! Hempsall rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Riley finish him?!
Hempsall takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

and Riley counters with a crisp right that sends Hempsall to the canvas! Riley follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Grant Riley!
