Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dylan Payne has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wes Landry!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Landry looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Payne had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Landry defends it easily.
Payne tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Landry wants to stand but Payne has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Payne keeping moving, preventing Landry from controlling successfully.

Payne looking for a guillotine here but Landry defends easily.
Landry throwing strikes but missing.

Payne looking to hit a scissor sweep but Landry is one step ahead there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Landry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Payne sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Landry's guard.

Landry is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Payne pulls his head out easily.
Payne is looking to take a break and control but Landry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Payne is thwarting Landry's attempts to control the position.
Landry wants to improve his position but Payne is controlling well.
Landry tries to kick Payne off but Payne keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Landry is trying to maintain the position but Payne is very close to passing his half guard.

Payne gets caught napping as Landry dives in and scores a takedown. Payne manages to retain guard.

Payne has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Landry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Payne throws a head kick that half lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Landry throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Payne misses with a series of wild punches.

Landry has closed the distance and engaged Payne in a clinch.

Payne is fighting off a takedown attempt but Landry is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Payne to the mat. Payne regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Landry got a little sloppy there for a moment and Payne has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Landry has managed to get both his arms back between Payne's legs - danger averted.
Landry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Payne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Landry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Payne swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Dylan Payne wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Landry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Payne.

Landry paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Payne shoots and misses
and Landry counters with a body kick that stops Payne in his tracks momentarily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Landry displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Payne.

Landry bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Well Landry has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
