And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Hemmingworth and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jackson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Velasquez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Danga de danga de dang - Velasquez scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Mark Jackson has been cut.
Jackson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Velasquez under the eye.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Velasquez misses with a jab to the body
and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Velasquez looks to throw the jab but Jackson is out of range.
Mark Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A lazy left from Jackson finds it's target.
Jackson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Velasquez moves away.
Velasquez smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Jackson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Velasquez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Jackson looks to score with a jab to the body but Velasquez is just out of range.
A slow jab from Velasquez misses its intended target.
Jackson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Velasquez throws a body punch but Jackson moves out of range.
Velasquez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Velasquez misses with a wild body shot.
Velasquez slips under a jab.
Jackson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velasquez getting the better of the striking in that exchange.


Jackson is rocked!
Jackson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jackson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Velasquez manages to avoid it.
Jackson throws a body punch but Velasquez moves out of range.
Mark Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Velasquez cracks Jackson with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Jackson falls to his knees and Velasquez doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
During a confident post fight interview, Cain Velasquez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
