Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uriah Chesnokov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Reigns! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chesnokov shoots in but Reigns avoids the takedown attempt easily. Chesnokov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Reigns is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Chesnokov off and has taken his back! I would not like to be Chesnokov right now.
Chesnokov is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Reigns trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Chesnokov doesn't escape. Reigns has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Chesnokov has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
That's one minute gone in the round. Reigns working for a choke but Chesnokov is defending well. Chesnokov is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Reigns is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. It looks like Reigns might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reigns is working the ground and pound. Can Chesnokov escape? Reigns is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Reigns biding his time, looking for the opening.

Roman Reigns dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Reigns tries to bum rush Chesnokov with a series of wild strikes but Chesnokov uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Chesnokov fails with the takedown and Reigns counters with a nice leg kick. Chesnokov gets caught flat footed, as Reigns shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Reigns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Reigns stands up from Chesnokov's guard - Reigns perhaps looking for a knockout. Chesnokov with a lazy takedown attempt and Reigns counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chesnokov won't be happy with that. Roman Reigns has got the better of the ground game so far. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Reigns remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Reigns decides to stand back up.

Chesnokov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reigns on the ground. Reigns scores with punches from side control. You can see the frustration on Chesnokov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Reigns is staying tight to Chesnokov's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reigns is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Chesnokov looks calm but he's in trouble here. Reigns gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Chesnokov is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Reigns lets go of the hold and Chesnokov can pop his arm back in it's socket.
