Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Hess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Moody!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moody throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Moody clinches with his opponent.
Hess is trying to break free.

Moody jumps guard and drags Hess to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hess controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Moody trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Moody is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hess trying to control but Moody is working from the bottom.
Moody looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Hess wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Moody moves into the clinch successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hess is trying to push Moody away but Moody has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hess wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Hess could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A frustrated look appears on Hess's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hess is trying to break the clinch but Moody has him pressed against the cage.

Moody lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Hess avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Moody.
Moody has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Moody wants to take a breather but Hess is having none of it.
Hess trying to control but Moody postures up.
Hess is looking to improve his position.

Hess is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Moody pulls his head out easily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Moody lands a nice short elbow.
Hess trying to hold on to Moody's head to control him but Moody postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moody scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Moody blocks the strikes from Hess.
Hess misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Moody is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Hess wants to control but Moody is keeping busy.
Moody scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Hess looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hess is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hess is breathing heavily.
Moody drops an elbow to the side of Hess's head.
Hess trying to hold on to Moody's head to control him but Moody postures up.
Hess is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moody is nestled in close to Hess, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Moody looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hess is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Moody scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hess throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Hess is trying to get back to full guard.
Moody lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Hess actively working from the bottom here.
Moody lands strikes from half guard.
Moody slips a nice elbow through Hess's hands, connecting with Hess's forehead.


Hess is rocked!
Moody lands a big elbow - Hess is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Moody!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Moody!
