PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Milan Holder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kieran Kaufman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Milan Holder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kieran Kaufman!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaufman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Holder tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kaufman is in Holder's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Holder is striking from the bottom but Kaufman uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Kaufman decides to return to a standing position.

Holder fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kaufman, pushing him back against the cage.

Kaufman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Holder can't fight it off and eventually Kaufman manages to take the fight to the floor. Holder looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kaufman won't allow Holder to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kaufman makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Holder wants to stand and escape but Kaufman is having none of it.
Holder not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kaufman cracks Holder with a solid left hand.
Kaufman distracts Holder with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kaufman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kaufman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kaufman landing some decent shots from guard.

Kaufman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kaufman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kaufman working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Holder's head.
Kaufman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holder swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kaufman is pushing down on Holder's leg trying to pass to half guard. Holder is fighting to maintain full guard but Kaufman has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kaufman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kaufman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Holder makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Holder.
Kaufman is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Holder throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Kaufman stands up from Holder's guard - Kaufman perhaps looking for a knockout.

Kaufman gets a double leg takedown into Holder's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Holder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kaufman sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Kaufman decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Holder, up you get!

Kaufman dives in and scores a takedown into Holder's guard.

Kaufman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kaufman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kaufman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kaufman advances position into side control!
Holder wants to get back to his feet but Kaufman drags him back down.
Holder is breathing heavily.
Kaufman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Holder down.

Kaufman decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kaufman looking to score a takedown here. Holder is defending well but Kaufman drives through and ends up in Holder's guard.
Kaufman wants to control from the top but Holder keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kaufman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kaufman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kaufman stays in close to Holder's body and controls the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kaufman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Holder is keeping the position for now.
Holder striking off his back, scoring a few points.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kaufman is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Kaufman stands and throws Holder's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kaufman tries for a kimura but Holder is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kieran Kaufman dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Holder is looking to clinch but Kaufman is avoiding it.

Kaufman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Kaufman is trying to work for a kimura but Holder is defending well.

Holder is defending against the submission attempts here by Kaufman.
Holder wants to get back to his feet.
Kaufman is trying to control. Holder wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kaufman controlling the action here.
Kieran Kaufman has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kaufman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kaufman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kaufman uses his free foot to push down on Holder's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Holder.

Kaufman quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Kaufman but it's paid off an Holder is forced to tap! Nice work by Kaufman.
