PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between The Wrestler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo has chosen Whatcha say-Jason Derulo as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wrestler shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Wrestler stands up from half guard.
Wrestler tries to clinch but Aldo moves out of range.
Aldo throws a combination. Wrestler tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Aldo throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Wrestler fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Aldo is out of range.

Wrestler gets a double leg takedown into Aldo's guard.
Wrestler wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aldo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wrestler is controlling him.
Wrestler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because The Wrestler wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wrestler looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Aldo shoots in and drives through. Wrestler sprawls well.

Aldo tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Wrestler's elbow.

Wrestler has clasped his hands together around Aldo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Wrestler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Wrestler decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Wrestler takes one to the side of the head.
Aldo dodges the punch combination from Wrestler.
Wrestler lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Aldo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wrestler circles away quickly and effectively.

Wrestler rushes Aldo and presses him up against the cage.
Aldo misses with a punch to the body.
Aldo scores with a nice hook to the head.
Aldo lands a shoulder strike.
Wrestler fails to pull guard.
Wrestler wants to get back to striking at distance but Aldo won't allow it.

Wrestler tries to circle away but Aldo has him pinned against the cage.
Wrestler is trying to force a seperation but Aldo has the dominant position.
Aldo digs a right hand underneath Wrestler's ribcage. Wrestler let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Wrestler prevents a body shot from Aldo.
Wrestler is trying to pull guard but Aldo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Wrestler is pressed up against the cage. Aldo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wrestler down to the mat. Wrestler avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
The Wrestler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.
Wrestler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aldo moves away.

Aldo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wrestler to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Wrestler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wrestler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aldo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wrestler controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Wrestler advances position into side control!
Wrestler wants to control but Aldo is keeping him busy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aldo gets back to half guard.
Aldo has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Wrestler dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wrestler is looking to clinch.
Wrestler swats away the attempt to clinch by Aldo.

Wrestler is working to tighten his grip on Aldo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Aldo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Wrestler is really squeezing tight and eventually Aldo passes out! Wrestler breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
