The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strickland throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gulliver was covering up waiting for the punch and Strickland finishes the takedown easily into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Strickland trying to control but Gulliver is working from the bottom.
Gulliver looking for a sweep. Not yet Gulliver, not yet.
Gulliver has his hands on Strickland's head, controlling the position.

Strickland got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gulliver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Strickland has managed to get both his arms back between Gulliver's legs - danger averted.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gulliver shoots in for a takedown but Strickland shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gulliver pushes Strickland up against the cage in a clinch.

Gulliver turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gulliver manages to end up in side control.
Strickland knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gulliver on the ground.

Strickland gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Strickland is trying desperately to improve position.
The referee warns Strickland that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Strickland is bucking up trying to escape but Gulliver cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Gulliver lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Strickland hang on?

It looks like Gulliver might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gulliver connects with a bit shot that sees Strickland covering up! More strikes from Gulliver and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Gulliver is our winner by TKO!
