Steel has chosen Rick Ross Ft Jay Z - The Devil is a lie as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jorge Steel looks lathargic as he enters the arena. The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mengel throws an overhand right that lands on Steel's shoulder, as Steel tries to avoid the shot.
Steel throws a combination that misses
and Steel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Steel avoids the head kick by Mengel.
A jab from Mengel misses.
Steel throws a series of punches but Mengel avoids them all with ease.
Mengel pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Steel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Mengel scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
It looks like Jorge Steel has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A slow jab from Mengel misses its intended target.
Mengel jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mengel takes one on the button.
Steel misses with a straight left.
Mengel misses with a leg kick.
Steel throws a lazy right hand but Mengel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mengel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mengel lands an overhand right.
Steel throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mengel counters with a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mengel tries a head kick but it misses.
Steel on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Mengel scores with a jab. Steel acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Steel is rocked!
That has opened up Jorge Steel's cut even more.
Mengel lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Steel up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Mengel from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Steel's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). George Mengel!
