PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between The Weirdness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cheick Fluke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fluke has chosen Bonnie Tyler- Total Eclipse of the Heart as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, The Weirdness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cheick Fluke!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weirdness will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Weirdness shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Fluke counters by clinching up.

Fluke is trying to trip Weirdness. He has hold of a leg but Weirdness is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Fluke persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Fluke slips nicely into half guard.
Weirdness knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fluke on the ground.
Fluke stalling.
Fluke throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fluke winds up and cracks Weirdness with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fluke missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Weirdness is breathing heavily.

Fluke controlling the action here.
Fluke's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Cheick Fluke.

Weirdness has his takedown stuffed

and Fluke counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fluke lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fluke frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

We've been hearing good reports from Weirdness's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fluke putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Fluke looking to control and managing it successfully.
Fluke has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Fluke landing strikes from the mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fluke takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fluke is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Weirdness can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cheick Fluke dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Weirdness gets tackled into the cage by Fluke. Fluke maintains the clinch.
Weirdness wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Fluke has him pressed against the cage.

Fluke breaks the clinch.
Weirdness tries for a takedown but Fluke circles away easily

and Fluke counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Weirdness's guard now.
Fluke controlling from the top position.
Fluke is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Fluke is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fluke forces his way into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fluke works his way into side control.
Fluke remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Fluke passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Weirdness!

Weirdness is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Fluke locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Weirdness is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cheick Fluke!
Cheick Fluke bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
