Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Byron Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Joy Division - Atmosphere. Nelson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Kanye West feat Chief Keef, Pusha T, Jadakiss, Big Sean - I Don't Like. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bobby Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Byron Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Nelson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bruce - the referee stops the clock and Nelson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bruce. Nelson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Nelson misses with a looping left.
Nelson throws a looping overhand right but Bruce ducks down to avoid it.
Nelson takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bruce throws a shot from downtown. Nelson moves away and avoids it.
Nelson wants to clinch up but Bruce keeps it at a distance.
Bruce cracks the inside of Nelson's front leg.
Bruce avoids a kick to the body.
Nelson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bruce.
A slow jab from Nelson misses its intended target.
Bruce lands with a shot to the body.

and Nelson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nelson wants to control from the top but Bruce keeps moving.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Nelson working his ground and pound in the gym.

Bruce wants to sweep but no luck.
Nelson looking to sit in guard and control but Bruce gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bruce throws an overhand right that lands on Nelson's shoulder, as Nelson tries to avoid the shot.
Nelson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bruce.
Nelson looks for a takedown but Bruce sprawls well.
Bobby Bruce is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nelson avoids a kick to the body.
Nelson digs a good hook to Bruce's body.
Bruce moves out of range of the body kick.
Bruce feints and then cracks Nelson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nelson down.

so Nelson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nelson postures up in Bruce's guard and throws a big left but Bruce blocks it.
Bruce lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nelson!
Nelson tries to lock up and control but Bruce gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Nelson tries to improve his position but instead Bruce has taken his back!
Nelson tries to escape but Bruce has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Bruce controls the position.

What's going on here? Bruce has decided to give up on the ground game despite having his opponent's back!
Nelson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bruce feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nelsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Bruce jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Bruce looks to land a right hand but Nelson moved out of range.
Bruce blocks a leg kick.
Bruce pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Nelson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bruce lands a jab to Nelson's midsection.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bruce is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Nelson's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

and Bruce counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nelson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A looping hook to the body misses from Bruce. Nelson does a little dance to reset his feet.

A slapping leg kick lands for Bruce.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bobby Bruce will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nelson dives in and grabs Bruce's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bruce pushes down on Nelson's head and hops out.

Nelson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bruce is looking to escape.

Nelson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bruce is now in Nelson's guard. A big mistake from Nelson there, giving up the dominant position!
Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bruce as he jumps to the side.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nelson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt - Bruce sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bobby Bruce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Byron Nelson.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bobby Bruce.
I think Bruce has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
