Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Till I Collapse as his entrance music. Paul Frederick has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Frederick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frederick drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Smith trying to control the position here. Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Frederick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Frederick throws a big elbow that misses. Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Smith keeping moving, preventing Frederick from controlling successfully. Frederick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Smith trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Frederick wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Frederick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Smith tries to clinch up but Frederick circles away and keeps his distance. Frederick gets in close and instigates a clinch. Frederick pulls guard effortlessly. Frederick wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment. Frederick trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith throws a strike but Frederick rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Smith wants to control but Frederick passes easily into half guard.
Frederick thows a huge punch but Smith dodges it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frederick is pressing down on Smith's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smith is holding on for now. Smith trying to control from the bottom.
Smith is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Smith is not content to let Frederick control the position. Frederick has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Frederick controlling the position easily from mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Frederick can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smith wants to control but Frederick is having none of it. Frederick fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

It looks like John Smith has been cut. A big strike lands for Frederick! That's really hurt Smith and he's turned his back - Frederick keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Frederick jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
