PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Patrushev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergei Patrushev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Devon King!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a body punch but Patrushev moves out of range.

Patrushev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Patrushev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Patrushev eventually gives up the hold.

Patrushev is stalling here. King is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Patrushev seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and King has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Patrushev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Check out the look on King's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
King tries to score with some ground and pound. Patrushev controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Patrushev is looking to reverse the position.

King is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Patrushev will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Patrushev is looking to regain half guard here but King keeps moving and retains side control.

Patrushev tries to roll over but King keeps him under control.
King seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Patrushev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
King wants to pass to mount but Patrushev is defending the position.
Patrushev is trying to stand up here but King is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nice straight punches there by King. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of King.

King stuns Patrushev with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Patrushev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King scores with a nice strike.
Patrushev tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
King scores with a jab to the body.
Patrushev walks into a straight right hand from King.
King connects with a nice looking jab.
King digs a good hook to Patrushev's body.
King lands a jab to the nose.
Patrushev tries to close the distance and clinch but King swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice uppercut there from King.
King ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Patrushev moves away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
King connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Patrushev dives in for a single leg takedown but King sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Patrushev wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergei Patrushev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Patrushev tightens his grip and picks King up, before dumping him to the ground. King manages to land in guard.
King tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Patrushev prevents King from getting back to his feet.

King is looking for a triangle but Patrushev pushes his legs off easily.
King manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
King in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
King lands a nice shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Patrushev tries to lock up and control but King gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Patrushev gets back to half guard.
Patrushev has hold of King's hands but King slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.


Patrushev is rocked!
King is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Oh Patrushev is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
King wants to control but Patrushev is keeping him busy.

King lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Patrushev! More strikes land and this one is all over! King jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

An out of breath Devon King thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
