Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Renan Barao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Buma! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buma shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barao but Barao pushes him off and we're back to square one. Buma takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Barao is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Barao tries to clinch up but Buma circles away and keeps his distance. Barao lands with a kick to the temple. Buma shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" We've been hearing reports that Barao has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Buma shoots for a double leg takedown but Barao sprawls well. He's pushed Buma's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Buma avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Barao closes the distance and clinches. A quick uppercut on the inside from Barao. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Barao. Barao lands a left hand that snaps the head of Buma backwards. Barao's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. A short right from Barao on the inside. Buma wants to take the fight to the mat but Barao manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Renan Barao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Buma. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barao lands with a short shot to the head. Buma wants a takedown but no success here.
Buma has Barao pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Barao manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barao scores with a shoulder strike. Barao slows down the pace here.

Barao lands a shoulder strike. Barao pulls Buma into guard.
Barao looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Barao working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Buma doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Buma manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Barao is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Buma content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Barao has locked up a guillotine! Barao's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Buma is holding on here and Barao must be using up a lot of energy. Buma has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Barao gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
