Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryu Ansatsuken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mirrka Crovopic! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ansatsuken throws a big shot that misses. The fighters circle momentarily. Ansatsuken darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Ansatsuken shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Crovopic eats them both and turns towards Ansatsuken to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Crovopic walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Crovopic misses with a two punch combination.
Ansatsuken misses with a hook
and Crovopic counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ansatsuken! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Crovopic throws a strike aimed at the side of Ansatsuken's head but Ansatsuken avoids it well. Crovopic prevents Ansatsuken from escaping the position. Ansatsuken is looking to regain half guard here but Crovopic keeps moving and retains side control. Ansatsuken is working hard here to advance position. Ansatsuken knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crovopic on the ground. Ansatsuken is trying to control Crovopic's posture but Crovopic avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ansatsuken tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ansatsuken tries to reverse the position but Crovopic maintains control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ansatsuken is just holding on here. Crovopic manages to take his back.
Crovopic has managed to slip his arm under Ansatsuken's chin. This could be all over... yep, Ansatsuken is tapping out! Submission win for Crovopic.
