Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nyffe Pehmytkudos! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jase Robertson! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pehmytkudos throws a jab when Robertson was well out of range. Jase Robertson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pehmytkudos takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Pehmytkudos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Robertson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Robertson tests Pehmytkudos's chin there with a solid looking shot. Pehmytkudos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pehmytkudos dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Robertson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pehmytkudos swings away with a body shot that misses
and Robertson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Robertson misses with a body shot.
A shot to the liver by Robertson. Beautiful body shot. Robertson thumps Pehmytkudos with a low kick. Robertson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pehmytkudos throws out the jab. Robertson throws a head kick that misses and Pehmytkudos counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Robertson ducks under a wild hook from Pehmytkudos. Pehmytkudos has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's one minute gone in the round. A shot to the body from Pehmytkudos misses and Robertson counters with a nice leg kick. Pehmytkudos dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Robertson throws a looping overhand right but Pehmytkudos ducks down to avoid it. Robertson's coach down at HILITE Fighting Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Robertson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. A punch combination from Robertson misses. Robertson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Robertson listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Good exchange - Robertson coming out on top. Pehmytkudos misses the shot to the body. Robertson thows a left - swing and a miss! Pehmytkudos misses the shot to the body. Robertson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pehmytkudos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pehmytkudos misses with an uppercut. Sloppy strikes from Robertson. Those never looked like landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pehmytkudos misses with a looping right. Robertson misses with a hook. Robertson missing with a left hand there. Pehmytkudos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Pehmytkudos walks into a left hand. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Robertson misses with a leg kick. Robertson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Robertson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. A good leg kick by Robertson. Robertson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Pehmytkudos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pehmytkudos slips a jab and a cross from Robertson.
Robertson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. A telegraphed right hand from Robertson misses the target. Pehmytkudos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Robertson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pehmytkudos connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Robertson momentarily.
Pehmytkudos sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. A combination from Pehmytkudos does no damage. Robertson wants to land a leg kick but Pehmytkudos is out of range. Pehmytkudos is looking to wear down Robertson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Pehmytkudos waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Robertson. Robertson misses with a hook. Pehmytkudos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Robertson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Robertson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Robertson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Pehmytkudos gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Robertson. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pehmytkudos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Pehmytkudos walks into a jab.
Pehmytkudos is rocked! Pehmytkudos on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Oh Pehmytkudos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Pehmytkudos is breathing heavily. Pehmytkudos drops his hands momentarily. Robertson doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Pehmytkudos staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Pehmytkudos doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jase Robertson! Jase Robertson is the new middleweight champion! A very excited looking Jase Robertson rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
