PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carl Draiman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tamao Serizawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tamao Serizawa struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Draiman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tamao Serizawa!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Draiman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Serizawa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Draiman swings around for an armbar but Serizawa sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Draiman's guard.
Serizawa is looking to stand up but Draiman won't let him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Draiman is trying to hold Serizawa in close to prevent damage but Serizawa has managed to pass into half guard.

Draiman isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Serizawa stacks Draiman on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Serizawa!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Draiman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Serizawa sprawls well initially but Draiman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Draiman goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Serizawa turns into him and now he's in Draiman's guard.

Carl Draiman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Serizawa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Draiman tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Draiman tries to lock up and control but Serizawa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Tamao Serizawa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Draiman is trying desperately to improve position.

Well Draiman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
