Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Vines! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikhail Lepikhin! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lepikhin misses with a hook
and Vines counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lepikhin won't be happy with that. Vines tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Lepikhin managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Vines.
Vines is putting a hurting on Lepikhin here, landing some big shots from side control.
It looks like Mikhail Lepikhin has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vines working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Vines grinds an elbow into Lepikhin's temple. Lepikhin is looking to reverse the position. Lepikhin keeps trying to improve his position. Lepikhin manages to get back to half guard. Ground and pound from Vines. Lepikhin taking some punishment here, with Vines in his half guard.
Lepikhin is rocked! Vines is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Lepikhin is still in real trouble! Can Vines finish him? Lepikhin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vines pulls his head out easily. Vines has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lepikhin works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vines scoring with punches to the head and body. Vines drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vines jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Vines with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vines gets to his feet and stands over Lepikhin, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Lepikhin felt that one! Vines unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Lepikhin from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gary Vines! Our winner, Gary Vines, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
