Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vesa Vempula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Kayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vempula tries to clinch there but Kayo circles away.

Kayo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kayo showed some decent athleticism there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kayo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vempula is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Some bone on bone action there as Vempula checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Kayo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kayo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kayo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vempula can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Vempula thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Vempula wants to stand but Kayo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kayo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vempula drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kayo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vempula has Kayo in his guard.
Vempula will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
