PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Rigs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Biddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chuck Biddle was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Rigs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Biddle!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rigs throws a series of punches but Biddle avoids them all with ease.
Biddle swats away the attempt to clinch by Rigs.
Rigs throws a nice head kick!
Biddle closes the distance and clinches up with Rigs, looking for a takedown. Biddle pushes Rigs against the cage but Rigs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rigs wants to clinch up but Biddle keeps it at a distance.
Rigs scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Biddle swats away the attempt to clinch by Rigs.
Rigs misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rigs wants to clinch up but Biddle keeps it at a distance.
Rigs lands a head kick. Biddle smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Biddle fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Biddle moves out of range of the body kick.
Biddle shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rigs pinned against the cage. Rigs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kyle Rigs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Biddle.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Rigs.
Kyle Rigs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rigs tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Biddle keeps the fight on the outside.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Biddle.

Biddle looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rigs wants to stand up but Biddle is controlling him.
Rigs keeping full guard, as Biddle tries to pass.

Rigs wants to get back to his feet but Biddle is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Biddle pushing down on Rigs's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Biddle in particular looking to stall.
Biddle tries to stand and escape but Rigs is controlling the position.
Biddle looks gassed!
Biddle passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rigs!
Rigs is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Rigs really wants to buck Biddle off and get back to his feet.
Biddle controlling from mount.
Biddle trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Biddle throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Biddle tries to control but Rigs wriggling away.
Rigs is in a horrible position here. Biddle smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rigs is desperately trying to improve his position but Biddle has a good base and remains in mount.

Biddle looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Rigs tries to hold on but Biddle pushes him away.
Rigs is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyle Rigs will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Biddle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rigs swivels and escapes.

Rigs tries to keep at a distance but Biddle has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rigs is pressed up against the cage. Biddle has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rigs down to the mat. Rigs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rigs is looking to break free of the clinch but Biddle has double underhooks.
Biddle drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rigs gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kyle Rigs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Biddle.
Rigs lands a nice knee to the body.
Rigs with a knee to the head.

Biddle breaks from the clinch.
Biddle is breathing heavily.
Rigs scores with a shot to the body.
Kyle Rigs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rigs throws a nice looking combination but Biddle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Rigs swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kyle Rigs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rigs tries to clinch but Biddle is having none of it.
Biddle fails with the takedown.
Biddle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rigs tries to avoid it but Biddle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rigs to the ground. Rigs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rigs has managed to clinch.
Rigs lands an uppercut.
Biddle fails to pull guard.

Rigs breaks the clinch.
Rigs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rigs fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nice straight punches there by Rigs. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rigs.
Rigs digs a good body shot into Biddle's ribs.
Biddle on the wrong end of a nice jab.
A punch combination from Rigs misses.
Rigs misses with the combination.
Biddle shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rigs pinned against the cage. Rigs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rigs gets a clinch.
Rigs tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Rigs with an attempt at a knee that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rigs breaks the clinch.
Biddle avoids a punch combination nicely.

Biddle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rigs pushes Biddle off looking to stand but Biddle dives back in and keeps control.
Biddle looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Biddle is working for a kimura but Rigs is defending it quite comfortably.
Biddle performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rigs trying to control from the bottom.
Biddle is pressing down on Rigs's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rigs is holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rigs trying to hold on to Biddle's head to control him but Biddle postures up.

Biddle is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Rigs has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kyle Rigs will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


A solid leg kick lands there for Rigs.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Biddle is trying to stall.
Rigs tries to land knees in the clinch but Biddle avoids the damage to the body.
Rigs wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rigs prevents Biddle from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Biddle tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rigs smiles and moves away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rigs looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Biddle walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Rigs misses with a series of wild punches.
Biddle throws a jab but it's blocked by Rigs.
Biddle darts in trying to clinch
and Rigs counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Rigs rushes Biddle and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Biddle has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rigs uses from the top position.
Rigs has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Biddle manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Biddle lands a big shot there that rocks Rigs but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Biddle tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Biddle looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Biddle is working for a guillotine from mount but Rigs frees his head quite easily.
Rigs squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Biddle with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Biddle throws some wild stikes that Rigs manages to avoid easily.
Biddle throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Biddle tries to control but Rigs wriggling away.
Rigs tries to reverse the position but Biddle maintains control.
Biddle tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Biddle looking to finish Rigs with some ground and pound. This is bad for Rigs!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Biddle thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Biddle tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Biddle jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rigs is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rigs and Biddle has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Rigs regains half guard, as Biddle was trying to land strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chuck Biddle.
I think Rigs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
