Burton has chosen Trip Like I Do as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Colin Burton!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alves no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Alves counters with a three punch combo that has Burton backing up. Burton nods at Alves to acknowledge the strikes.

and Alves counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Burton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Alves counters with a series of strikes. Burton will be more careful next time no doubt.

Burton's coach down at Irish Collar-and-Elbow Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Burton's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Alves is rocked!
Burton working the clinch nicely. Alves is working for position but Burton cracks him with a big knee to the head! Alves crumples up against the cage and Burton lands two more shots before the ref can save Alves! This one is all over!
