Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kyoichi Sudo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hideya Kaayi!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaayi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sudo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kaayi's guard.
Sudo content to stall in guard here.
Kaayi looking to control.
Sudo looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Kaayi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hideya Kaayi was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sudo moves out of range of the body kick from Kaayi.

Sudo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kaayi is trying to get back to full guard.
Sudo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sudo drops an elbow to the side of Kaayi's head.
Kaayi trying to control from the bottom.
Kaayi avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sudo.
Sudo is trying to control the action in half guard but Kaayi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kaayi wants to control but Sudo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kaayi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Sudo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sudo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Sudo trying to control from half guard but Kaayi is working away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kaayi is trying to control but can't.
Kaayi gets full guard.
Kaayi working a defensive guard but Sudo manages to pass into side control anyway.
Kaayi seems a little lost for a moment, as Sudo dominates the positioning.
Sudo is trying to ground and pound but Kaayi uses the momentary lack of control by Sudo to regain half guard.
Kaayi is in trouble now - Sudo has advanced to mount!
Sudo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kaayi regains half guard.
Sudo sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kaayi defending well though.
Sudo winds up and cracks Kaayi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sudo prevents Kaayi from improving his position.
Kaayi is trying to maintain the position but Sudo is very close to passing his half guard.
Kaayi wants to improve his position but Sudo is controlling well.
Sudo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kaayi's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kaayi trying to hold on to Sudo's head to control him but Sudo postures up.

Sudo wants to work for an arm triangle but Kaayi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sudo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kaayi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sudo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sudo's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyoichi Sudo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Sudo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kaayi quickly recovers to half guard.
Kaayi is not content to let Sudo control the position.
Sudo content to control rather than advance.
Kaayi wants to get back to full guard but Sudo has mounted him!
Kaayi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kaayi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Sudo avoids the attempt from Kaayi to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee warns Kaayi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sudo lands with some strikes.
Sudo controlling the pace for now.
Sudo lands a heavy elbow.
Sudo tries to control but Kaayi wriggling away.
Sudo with the ground and pound from mount.

Sudo working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Kaayi looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Sudo! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Kyoichi Sudo!
In defeat, Hideya Kaayi stepped up to the mic, saying 'Battle Lost but the War continues Team Goroshi - Aplha-Male Supplements'.
