Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Yomata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonas Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yomata bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Torres is letting Yomata control him for a moment.
Yomata wants to stand but Torres is controlling his arm.
Torres is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Yomata has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yomata grinds an elbow into Torres's temple.
Yomata looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Torres is avoiding damage well.

Yomata tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Yomata swings around for an armbar but Torres sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Yomata's guard.

Yomata is working an open guard so Torres takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Torres enables Yomata to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Torres manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Yomata feints and as Torres raises his hands in defense, Yomata changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yomata decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Torres, up you get!

Torres is fighting off a takedown attempt but Yomata is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Torres to the mat. Torres regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Torres pushes Yomata off and scrambles back to his feet.

Torres throws a right hand that Yomata ducks under and follows up with a left that Yomata also avoids with ease.
Yomata tries to land a front kick but Torres steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Yomata feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yomata shoots in for a takedown but Torres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Horrible takedown by Yomata or perhaps it was just good defense by Torres which made him look bad.

Torres sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
