Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Rivas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Gauge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rivas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cypress Hill-Insane in the Membrane. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Greg Gauge enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Rivas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Gauge! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gauge drives through with a takedown into Rivas's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Gauge trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rivas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gauge throws a big elbow that misses. Gauge throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rivas works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Gauge with a flurry of punches that miss. Gauge has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Werewolf's cave. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gauge preventing the sweep. Gauge trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rivas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rivas tries to get out of the position. Gauge throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rivas works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Gauge in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gauge looking to sit in guard and control but Rivas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gauge avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gauge looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rivas is one step ahead there. Gauge is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gauge controls Rivas momentarily but Rivas frees himself. Rivas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rivas postures up in Gauge's guard and throws a big left but Gauge blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rivas throws a strike but Gauge rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Gauge has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gauge missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rivas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gauge on the ground.

Gauge missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Rivas manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Gauge keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Rivas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rivas is fighting to maintain full guard but Gauge has managed to sneak the leg through. Gauge not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Gauge tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rivas knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Rivas is refusing to be controlled, as Gauge sits in half guard.

Gauge can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rivas is looking to escape. Rivas taking shots to the head. Gauge throws some wild stikes that Rivas manages to avoid easily.

This has been an exciting period of action! Gauge throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A nice elbow there by Gauge. Gauge avoids the attempt from Rivas to control. Rivas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Rivas tries to bench press Gauge off him but Gauge keeps the position. Rivas looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gauge trying to control the position but Rivas is working away. Rivas parries the strikes from Gauge easily there. Gauge is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rivas to escape.
