Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Place Holder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frankie Palmeri! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Palmeri misses with the combination.
Palmeri takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jab by Palmeri. Palmeri misses with a straight right. Palmeri swinging wildly here.
Holder takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Holder scores with a push kick. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Holder. Holder seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Holder darts in looking for a takedown but Palmeri gets double underhooks and turns Holder into the cage. Holder has Palmeri pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Palmeri manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Nice elbow from Holder.
It looks like Frankie Palmeri has been cut. Holder tries to land knees in the clinch but Palmeri avoids the damage to the body. Holder jumps guard and drags Palmeri to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Palmeri got a little sloppy there for a moment and Holder has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Palmeri has managed to get both his arms back between Holder's legs - danger averted. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Palmeri tries to stand but Holder is controlling from the bottom. Holder working for a triangle but Palmeri defends it easily.
Holder controls Palmeri momentarily but Palmeri frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Palmeri not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Holder looking for a triangle here. Palmeri is fighting it but it looks tight! Holder pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Palmeri is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Place Holder! In defeat, Frankie Palmeri stepped up to the mic, saying 'No biggs'.
