Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Dyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatenda Ihejirika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Tatenda Ihejirika enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephen Dyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tatenda Ihejirika!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ihejirika throws a body punch but Dyer moves out of range.
Ihejirika throws a left and a right that both miss
and Dyer counters with a right hand to the body.
Ihejirika throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ihejirika closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dyer did well to prevent Ihejirika getting side control.
We've been hearing good reports from Dyer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
It looks like Ihejirika is going to stand back up.

Ihejirika is trying to work for a kimura but Dyer is defending well.
Dyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dyer is pressing down on Ihejirika's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dyer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ihejirika on the ground.
Dyer has a closed guard, preventing Ihejirika from standing up.

Dyer looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ihejirika trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dyer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dyer tries to get out of the position.
Dyer is trying to control the position but Ihejirika postures up.
Dyer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dyer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ihejirika stays in close to Dyer's body and controls the position.
Dyer seems keen to control Ihejirika's posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ihejirika darts in looking for a takedown but Dyer gets double underhooks and turns Ihejirika into the cage.
Dyer wants to get back to striking at distance but Ihejirika won't allow it.
Ihejirika keeps control of Dyer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Ihejirika tries for a takedown. No joy.
Dyer tries to circle away but Ihejirika has him pinned against the cage.

Dyer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ihejirika throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Tatenda Ihejirika seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ihejirika just misses with a punch to the body.
Ihejirika scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ihejirika goes for a double leg but Dyer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dyer continues to drive forward.
Ihejirika's coach down at MuscleWorks Amsterdam™ was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ihejirika's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Stephen Dyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tatenda Ihejirika.
Ihejirika drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dyer pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dyer stuffs the takedown.
Ihejirika throws a wild body kick that Dyer sees coming a mile off.
Dyer thows a body shot but no joy.
Ihejirika shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dyer sprawls well. Dyer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ihejirika gets slowly back to his feet.
Ihejirika shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dyer counters with a left to the body.
Ihejirika looks winded!
Nice body punch from Dyer.
Dyer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ihejirika at a distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A decent looking cross lands there for Dyer.


It looks like Tatenda Ihejirika has been cut.
Ihejirika fails with the takedown
and Dyer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dyer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Dyer throws a series of punches but Ihejirika moves out of range.
Ihejirika tries for a takedown but Dyer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dyer lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Ihejirika goes down and covers up as Dyer starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stephen Dyer!
In his post fight interview, Stephen Dyer started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
