Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cody Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalemi Haei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Willis throws a looping overhand right but Haei ducks down to avoid it. Haei looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haei throws and elbow that misses. Willis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Haei's guard. Nice move by Willis! Willis wants to get up but he can't break Haei's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Willis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Haei is striking off his back. Willis thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Haei is looking to improve his position.
Willis wants to stand but Haei has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Haei tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Willis prevents Haei from improving his position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Haei can do anything to dispel that myth.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Willis throws a big shot that misses. Haei looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Haei slips a jab and a cross from Willis.
Willis thuds his right hand into Haei's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
It looks like Kalemi Haei has been cut. Haei fails with a takedown attempt. Willis misses with a straight right. Haei avoids the body shot from Willis.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Willis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Willis throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Willis throws an overhand right that lands on Haei's shoulder, as Haei tries to avoid the shot. Haei uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Willis. Haei shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Willis as he avoids it easily. Cody Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kalemi Haei. No joy there for Willis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A lazy left from Willis finds it's target. Willis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Haei moves away. Willis throws a looping overhand right but Haei ducks down to avoid it. Haei ducks under a wild hook from Willis. Horrible takedown by Haei or perhaps it was just good defense by Willis which made him look bad. Cody Willis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Haei throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haei on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Haei keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Haei slips under a jab from Willis. Willis throws a body punch but Haei moves out of range. Haei looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Haei postures up in Willis's guard and throws a big left but Willis blocks it. Haei missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Willis keeping full guard, as Haei tries to pass. Haei trying to control the position from guard on top but Willis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haei working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haei stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Willis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Willis is looking to stand up but Haei isn't so interested in that idea. Haei slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Willis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Haei connects with a decent elbow. Haei throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Willis works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Haei throws a strike but Willis avoids it easily and moves to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Willis dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kalemi Haei's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Haei misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Willis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haei. Haei takes a jab right on the kisser.

and Willis counters with a left to the body. Haei ducks under a wild hook from Willis. Willis misses with a looping right. Willis pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Willis misses with an uppercut. Willis thows a left - swing and a miss! Haei avoids the body shot from Willis.
That's one minute gone in the round. Willis throws a lazy right hand but Haei sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Haei bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Haei throws a strike aimed at the side of Willis's head but Willis avoids it well. Willis avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Haei. Willis is trying to buck Haei off. Haei scores with a couple of short elbows. Haei is looking to take a break and control but Willis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Willis is trying to buck Haei off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haei landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Willis wants to get back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Haei uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Willis. No luck for Haei with that takedown attempt. Willis looks to land a right hand but Haei moved out of range. Haei shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Haei was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Haei connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haei throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Willis taking shots to the head. Willis is trying to stand up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haei unloading with bombs! Willis is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Haei throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Haei unloading with bombs! Haei unloading with bombs! Haei putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Haei looking to ground and pound but Willis is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Haei punching from mount but Willis doing a good job of avoiding damage. Haei fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Haei throws a strike there. Willis manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Haei throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Ground and pound from Haei. Haei throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Haei is trying to control the action in half guard but Willis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Haei looks to land a strike but Willis avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Willis keeping full guard, as Haei tries to pass. Haei is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Cody Willis will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Kalemi Haei's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Willis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Haei sees it coming and avoids it easily. Willis throws a big shot that misses. Willis lands a jab to Haei's midsection. Willis looks to land a left hand but Haei moved out of range nicely. Willis looks to land a right hand but Haei moved out of range. A telegraphed right hand from Willis misses the target. Willis jabbing away but nothing is landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Willis misses with an uppercut. Willis throws a lazy right hand but Haei sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A big left from Willis misses. Nice takedown defense from Willis. No joy for Haei on that attempt. Haei shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haei is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Willis still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Willis has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Haei takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Haei tries to buck Willis off but Willis is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Willis tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Willis throws a jab when Haei was well out of range. Willis is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Willis changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Willis misses the jab. Willis lands with a cross. Willis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Willis swings for the body but Haei moves out of range.
Haei uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Willis. Haei changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Willis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Willis wants to get back to his feet but Haei drags him back down. Haei working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Haei is chipping away with strikes.
Haei in side control, throwing shots but Willis defends. The strikes coming from Haei are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Haei misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Haei fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Willis throws a lazy right hand but Haei sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Willis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Haei has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Willis finds it's way round the side to connect with Haei's head. Willis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Willis looks to throw the jab but Haei is out of range. Willis looks to land a left hand but Haei moved out of range nicely. Willis pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A telegraphed right hand from Willis misses the target. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Haei moves away from the strike by Willis. Willis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haei. Kalemi Haei has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Willis bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Haei's head backwards.
And that's the end of the fight! Cody Willis showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Willis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
