The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whitehope gets a clinch.
Whitehope lands a shoulder strike.

Fluke jumps into guard, dragging Whitehope to the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whitehope postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Whitehope throws a strike but Fluke rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Whitehope wants to stand and escape but Fluke is having none of it.

It looks like Toby Fluke has been cut.
Whitehope lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

I was talking to Whitehope's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Whitehope.
Fluke seems to have recovered his senses.

Whitehope lands a hook to the side of the head.
Whitehope creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Fluke with a big uppercut! Fluke tries to clinch up but Whitehope pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Fluke to the mat! Fluke covers up and Whitehope unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mark Whitehope!
Mark Whitehope decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Toby Fluke spoke after the fight, saying 'Wasn't even trying that fight, but I would win in a rematch.'.
